Academic Credit

The Tennessee Arts Academy offers participants various options to receive Academic Credit who attend and complete the Academy’s course of study.

Academic Credit Options

The Tennessee Arts Academy offers professional recertification credit for Tennessee teachers, TASL credit for Tennessee administrators, and tentatively plans to offer Academic College Credit.  Details regarding each type of credit offered through the Tennessee Arts Academy are described below.

Professional Licensure Credit
All teachers who participate in the full Academy experience receive a certificate indicating they have been awarded 36 Tennessee PDPs (professional development points) toward renewal or advancement of their teaching license. NOTE: Each school system in the state has the option to determine what PDPs they accept. The vast majority of school systems in Tennessee have historically accepted the PDPs offered by TAA. Also know that it is not necessary to register for Academic College Credit to obtain this licensure credit.

TASL Credit
Tennessee principals and supervisors may earn the maximum allowable hours of TASL credit (14 hrs) by attending all sessions of the Arts Leadership and Administration track of the Academy.

Academic College Credit
Tennessee Arts Academy will announce in early 2023 its plan for providing Academic College Credit during the upcoming TAA summer session.  Detailed information about Academic College Credit will include cost, process for registration, course requirements, etc.  The fees will be paid directly to the university by the TAA participant who desires to receive Academic College Credit.  All costs for Academic College Credit are in addition to the Arts Academy registration fee and any other Academy costs.
